Card Culture

I NEVER thought it will be a major boo boo if one writes relevant information on a business card such as, if your client / vendor verbally informed you of the change in contact number or email address shortly after presenting you with an outdated card as their new ones were not ready, until I came across a site on Business Card Etiquette in Japan.

So that means, for over 7 years I worked in a Japanese organisation here, I must have committed this offence stated by AsianBusinessCard.com:

* DO NOT write comments on another person's business card, in their presence. You may write on your own name card to add information (e.g., email, home phone number, etc.).

countless times.

Surely, one can't blame me if they present an outdated card and yet tell me a new contact number after that. To avoid forgetting and being a nuisance at the end of their meeting in order to ask for their number again, I feel it is perfectly alright and good initiative to write on-the-spot, on their outdated name card until they come round again, if they come round again with a new one.

Nonetheless, it is a good site to prep you up or refresh your memory when you have to interact with various business audience in Japan.
